Hi – I don’t know how many people, if any, will read this. I pledged today to join in with the 40acts challenge for Lent 2019. I have never done a blog before although I do write a journal. So… here goes….. Day One challenge was to pledge to do the challenge and decide on the level of accountability. I chose the blog. So far , so good. I have set up this blog.
The reason I have decided to do the challenge is that I am a vicar with 3 church schools (2 first, 1 middle) as well as being chaplain at an academy for yr 9-11 pupils. I have done assemblies this week at them all and because 2 of the church schools are doing the 40acts as a school I based the assembly on this. At first I challenged the pupils and said I wasn’t sure whether to do it or not. That was Monday with Year 11. Tuesday morning with Year 10 I said the same, then with a First School where after the assembly a pupil gave me a letter. She had started early. The letter said: Dear Rev Liz, Remember that you are stronger than you feel and smarter than you think. How lovely. I then went to do the Middle School assembly, again telling them i wasn’t sure if I would do it, but perhaps I will. At the end there was a spontaneous round of applause from the older pupils, which was wonderful. So this morning I committed to doing the challenge and told the year 9 and the other first school pupils that I had done so. I feel blessed to be here.
