Act 28: Clear the Diary |
Wipe your schedule so that you can serve others. Take a break from your own to-do list, and let other people’s needs drive your day. |
“…Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40 NIV) Choose how to complete this act… GREEN OPTION: Wipe your schedule for an hour to serve someone at home. YELLOW OPTION: Wipe your schedule for part of the day: message someone and say, ‘I’m free between X and Y and I’m happy to help with anything you need to do.’ RED OPTION: Wipe your schedule for a whole day! Fill it entirely with others’ needs (one person or lots of people). See how much serving you can fit in! |
Yes, I thought upon reading this with my morning cuppa, I could do that, except I was looking forward to day for myself. However, I had got to finish preparing a sermon for tomorrow, and in a way that is serving others. I also knew that there were some emails and phone calls to respond to. Yesterday was my day off and Saturday is a working day, so it would not be possible to let the whole day be dictated by others and be at their beck and call. I knew that the Red option wouldn’t work, and I tried to think of someone who I could call and offer my services to, but failed. So I decided for the Green option.
I asked my husband if I could help him with anything. He gave me a strange look and said No. Oh well…. I tried!!! I decided to wait and see what the day would bring.
I did some extra reading for the sermon just in case I could add something. And I wasted some time looking on the internet to see what is the most expensive perfume nowadays and what you could get for a year’s wages. Problem is perfume manufacturers add a lot to the value in packaging and marketing. So not a good comparison. Did you know that the most expensive perfume is One million dollars? Chanel No.5 isn’t on the top 10 list either. The average salary in the UK is £29,000 (includes male & female, full and part time). You can buy a lot of smelliest with that!!!!
What is the most expensive perfume in 2018? It’s a DKNY Golden Delicious Million Dollar Fragrance Bottle worth one million dollars. Much of the price though is not about what’s inside the bottle, but the bottle itself, a cornucopia of gems from the famed jeweler Martin Katz. The perfume tops our list for this year’s most expensive perfume, which are:
- DKNY Golden Delicious Million Dollar Fragrance Bottle – $1 million
- Clive Christian No. 1 Imperial Majesty Perfume – $12,721.89 per ounce
- Baccarat Les Larmes Sacrees de Thebes – $6,800 per ounce
- Chanel Grand Extrait – $4,200 per ounce
- Clive Christian No. 1 – $2,150 per ounce
- Hermès 24 Faubourg – $1,500 per ounce
- Caron Poivre – $1,000 per ounce
- Joy by Jean Patou – $850 per ounce
- JAR Bolt of Lightning – $765 per ounce
- Annick Goutal Eau d’Hadrien – $441.18 per ounce
. Sermon written and printed out I proceeded to complete the other 3 items on today’s to-do list: emails / phone messages; sort out some study guides on Acts for someone who’d requested them; and tidy the spare bedrooms. This last time is because I said we would put a couple of women up overnight on Sunday. One of my schools requested and I said I would be happy to oblige. Although they are friends, they are not so friendly that they want to share a bed. So one will be in a double bed in a room that didn’t need much tidying and the other is going to be in the room I use for prayer and painting on the bed settee. And that did need a fair bit of work doing on it. Both beds needed making up too. So in a way I did spend a big chunk of today serving at home.
Before doing the bedrooms though Terry and I went for a 3.4 mile walk around Hollington & Croxden which was lovely. We saw some beautiful flowers, including this one which we have failed to identify. Terry asked me to help him. So I did although I was busy doing something for myself. I wiped my schedule to help him. Not quite an hour. But I think, overall, I can say that I have completed today’s task.

Hi. Glad you managed today’s act of service. I did a bit but not nearly enough. Hoping to redeem myself tomorrow. It initially I was served by my lovely Mum and sister. My blog is online for today so you can see their acts of kindness. ❤️ Will update tomorrow night. Be blessed. Hoping you can read my blog if you want to, as used a tablet instead of my trusted laptop 🤣.
