Yesterday’s news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II was a surprise but not a great shock. She was a wonderful monarch, who reigned with a humble servant heart.
I saw the following picture and quote on Facebook:

“I cannot lead you into battle, I do not give you laws or administer justice but I can do something else, I can give you my heart and my devotion.”
The quote is from the Queen’s 1957 Christmas broadcast. The year I was born. I have always assumed that I was named after her.
It is only in recent years however that I have come to appreciate the depth of her Christian faith and the important role it played in her life.
May she rest in peace and rise in glory. She is now casting her crown before the King of Kings.
In my bible reading today I have had Isaiah 40 – 43. Some of my favourite passages. However the verse that stood out for me was “Here is my servant, whom I uphold” Our beloved Queen Elizabeth was upheld by God during her life as she served her country and the commonwealth so well.
I pray that King Charles III and the rest of the royal family will find comfort in knowing that millions of people are mourning with them.
